Associate, Sales & Marketing
       
Job Purpose:
This position reports to the Director, Sales & Marketing
 
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 1-3 years Financial Services experience
  • Self-motivated and highly disciplined team player
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
 
Job Duties:
Based in our Toronto office, the candidate will be required to assist in bringing awareness of Middlefield's product platform (Mutual Funds, Closed-End Funds and Flow-Through Funds) to investment advisors across the IIROC and MFDA channels. The candidate must have a strong understanding of the fund management business, including a good understanding of the mutual fund industry. The successful candidate will be relied up to:
 
     
  • Work with the Sales team to increase net sales and market share of Middlefield's products with Advisors across Canada.
  • Proactively contact Advisors to initiate or expand on existing relationships.
  • Ensure reginal events and road shows are executed to a high standard.
  • Service the needs of Advisors by handling incoming and outgoing communications (written and verbal).
  • Maintain timely and accurate records of all Sales activities in our CRM system.
  • Support the Sales team by promptly following up on meetings, road shows, events and web casts.
  • Develop pertinent marketing materials to help our clients grow their business.
  • Assist in special ad hoc projects as required.
  • Travel occasionally for advisor meetings and presentations.
 
Education:
Preference will be given to candidates with a CSC certification or working towards. Consideration will also be given to candidates with an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Finance or Business Administration.

Director, Sales & Marketing
       
Job Purpose:
Support senior executive team in achieving overall sales growth. Manage sales staff; plan, evaluate and execute strategic department activities.
 
Experience:
5-7 years in a sales role at an investment manager, or similar financial institution.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
 
Job Duties:
Based in our Toronto office, the candidate will be required to assist in bringing awareness of Middlefield's product platform (Mutual Funds, Closed-End Funds and Flow-Through Funds) to investment advisors across the IIROC and MFDA channels. The candidate must have a strong understanding of the fund management business, including a good understanding of the mutual fund industry. Experience in managing people and processes across the sales and marketing function would be an asset.
 
     
  • Formulate and implement a plan to grow awareness of Middlefield's products among investment advisors in Canada.
  • Develop the next generation of Middlefield supporters by increasing sales among existing clients and emerging prospects. Uncover new clients outside of Middlefield's purview. Manage personal client contact list and execute growth strategy.
  • Hire, train and work closely with an inside wholesaler.
  • Provide a bridge between sales, corporate development and portfolio management. Liaise with senior individuals across all three departments and manage day to day sales activities.
  • Develop annual sales plans for Middlefield, identifying key strategies for increasing penetration into bank-owned dealers, independent dealer firms and the MFDA channel.
  • Review and suggest updates to marketing and support materials.
  • Provide marketplace intelligence to the sales and corporate development team. Maintain knowledge of the competitive environment.
  • Develop media/press relations. Evaluate traditional and social media channels as a means to reach the customer.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking industry practices; participating in professional societies, maintaining financial education.
 
Education:
Preference will be given to candidates with a CFA, MBA and/or CA. Consideration will also be given to candidates with an undergraduate degree in business and/or engineering and relevant work experience.
